This is handsome wee man is Kobe. Kobe
won't be rehomed as he has had a jaw abscess and his teeth aren't the
greatest. He has undergone quite intensive treatment for his abscess
so far and will be on medication for the rest of his life. Kobe lives
in our livingroom with his girlfriend Toffee.
Last January (2006) Kobe underwent his first
operation to try and clear up his abscess. The wound healed very well
and he was given medication to keep it under control.
Almost one year to the date (January 2007),
Kobe's abscess reappeared and he had to have another operation. This
time it was touch and go, there was only a very slight possibility of
clearing the abscess. However, he has made a remarkable recovery, the
abscess has gone, and he's back to his normal cheeky self. We now have
to hope and pray that the abscess doesn't reappear in the future.
Update July 2008:
Kobe's abscess appeared again, this time it was really difficult to treat as
the infection was trapped behind his jaw bone. However, after a big
operation and many daily trips to Auntie Patricia, our
vet
, to have the wound flushed, he now seems to be in the clear again.
He's such a brave boy! He's now back to his cheeky, bouncy self again,
truly a miracle bunny. He now has no molar teeth in his head and his
incisors don't work at all, they have to be trimmed back every 6 to 8 weeks,
still, he's putting on weight again and living life to the full, it's lovely
to see him binkying and playing with the love of his life, Toffee.
