Please note! * Contrary to belief, we do NOT receive any government funding at all, we rely on donations, fundraising and our own money * It's not our 'job' to take in unwanted bunnies (as we were rudely told), we do it because we have to, otherwise who knows what would happen to them, sadly we can't help them all * Please be aware that if you advertise your unwanted pet rabbit yourself, some unscrupulous individuals who say they will take them may not be all they seem, it is known that some unwanted pet rabbits have ended up as snake food, dog bait, raptor food - always check before you rehome your rabbit
VHD confirmed in the Perth area!!! - And if it's in the Perth area, it could easily spread over a huge radius, if it hasn't already! - Please make sure your rabbit(s) is(are) up to date with their VHD vaccinations - VHD is very hard to catch early and can kill within hours, and it's not a pleasant death - VHD can be contracted by both indoor and outdoor rabbits - See here for more details
Very Very Important!!! There is an outbreak of Myxomatosis in the Carnoustie/Angus area, please make sure your rabbit(s) are vaccinated against this horrible (usually fatal) disease. Outdoor and indoor rabbits need to vaccinated. Your rabbit doesn't have to come into contact with a wild rabbit to contract myxomatosis. Myxomatosis is transmitted through biting insects such as flies, midges, mosquitoes, fleas, all these insects can and do come into your house, you can inadvertently carry fleas indoors on your shoes and clothing. It's been said that, due to the rise in the number of reported cases of myxomatosis, the RCVS are now recommending that all pet rabbits are vaccinated against this disease every 6 months regardless of geographical location.... Vaccinated rabbits stand more chance of recovering from myxomatosis if they catch it, unvaccinated rabbits usually die a slow and painful death. Please, please have your rabbit vaccinated, before it's too late!
Good News!!! Supreme Science Selective rabbit food is now available to buy at: The Pet & Garden Centre, High Street, Carnoustie!!!
12/08/07 -Please please please make sure your rabbit is vaccinated against Myxomatosis and VHD (outdoor and indoor bunnies), the wet and warm weather has meant there are more biting insects than ever this year and we're hearing of outbreaks all over the UK, if you love your bunnies, you'll make sure they are up to date with vaccinations. Vets are recommending 6-monthly Myxomatosis jabs and the usual yearly VHD jabs. Don't let your bunny suffer needlessly. 10/10/07 - Click here for Myxo outbreak areas reported to CARROT
